Is it your calling to serve our Nation’s Heroes? Avosys is seeking a Beneficiary Service Representative to provide outpatient services to the military and their families at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, AZ.

Responsibilities

  • Use of unique Military Health Care Computer Systems/Procedures.
    • Use of the Disability Counseling Guide for Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officers (PEBLO) provided by the government. The government will advise of updated material necessary to accomplish duty tasks.
    • In order to understand the Medical Evaluation Board/Physical Evaluation Board program elements, it is required that the individual will complete the Air Force Personnel Center’s PEBLO training online or in residence, as available. Preliminary training will be provided by a trained PEBLO after the start of work.
  • Plan and complete necessary Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) process activities from the time of notification of the need to evaluate an active duty member’s fitness for duty until a disposition is made by the Secretary of the Air Force Personnel Council.
  • Obtain, assemble, and forward all documents and records required by the Physical Evaluation Board (PEB).
  • Receive and respond to inquiries from beneficiaries, Department of Defense (DoD) Components, other agencies, and various interested parties.
  • Disability Retirement Listings (TDRL), fitness for duty determinations, lines of duty and other program requirements related to the DES. Provide PEB findings to service member and medical staff.  

  • Coordinate with appropriate points of contact throughout the Military Health System, the line of the Air Force agencies, (i.e. Military Personnel Flights, Comptroller, Transportation, and Aeromedical Evacuation) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (i.e. Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) and Veterans Health Administration (VHA) to best meet the member’s needs for information or assistance.
  • Assist the medical professional staff and other staff members on the regulatory and procedural aspects of profiling and disability processing. Provide MEB orientation program and on the job training for assigned staff personnel as required.
  • Extract, maintain, and analyze statistical data from various disability evaluation system sources.
  • Brief the Commander and other staff members.
  • Assure necessary arrangements are made for members to travel on temporary duty status to and from other locations as required.
  • Update local program documentation, i.e., patient handouts, training documents, checklists, operating procedures, etc.
  • Advise service members and medical staff on PEB findings.
  • May require travel for conferences or educational purposes in support of the MEB/IDES program.
  • Serve as the PEBLO in the MEB program. Provide information to active duty and Reserve Component members (Reserve and Guard) and commanders on program requirements, military benefits, legal rights, and the appeals process.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in business administration, management or health care organizations from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years relevant work experience required.
  • Expert knowledge of the TRICARE and Disability Evaluation System (DES) program policies and reference manuals.
  • In-depth knowledge, experience, and training to handle and solve complex cases that arise when addressing fitness for duty or physical disability evaluation issues.
  • Tact, diplomacy, and restraint in counseling and explaining entitlements, benefits, and responsibilities to all customers.
  • Practical knowledge of basic principles and practices relating to the entire military health-care delivery system.
  • Practical knowledge of DES processing regulations, instructions, procedures, and policies to assure timely case processing.
  • Practical knowledge and understanding of TRICARE contract language, regional healthcare issues and initiatives, and other federal health benefits programs.
